Colour - Deep ruby

Nose - Attractive aromas of red roses and lavender with a touch of all spice

Palate - Rich fleshy flavours of black cherry and spices combine to produce great length. Strong and lively tannins complete the enticing and unique taste of Sagrantino

Maturity - Alcohol 14.%

Making - First vintage from the Devil’s Elbow  vineyard on the Granite Belt of Queensland. Aged in two and three year old tight grain French Barriques

Food Notes - Avoid chilli dishes & Perfect with rare roast beef

Cellaring - 2-3 years in bottle to integrate tannins and development of fruit complexity

NOTES...
Matured in older French oak. Medium deep ruby with a fine savoury and dark fruit aroma, just a little smoky and a note of sour cherries but also something peppery, very lightly earthy. On the palate, bright, juicy fruit but seriously fresh and mouthwatering. The fruit is rich but savoury with no unwanted sweetness. Tannins are firm but fine, giving the overall impression that this would be a good food wine and will happily keep for another couple of years in bottle. Nicely balanced and a fine achievement for a first vintage of a new variety. (JH)”
